AU - Alternate Universe

Canon - The original material the fic is based on.

Fic - Short for fanfiction.

OC - Original Character (created by the author of the fic, not canon)

OOC - Out of Character (refers to a character that is written differently in personality from how they are in canon)

POV - Point of View

Ship - Short for Relationship. If two characters are "shipped" it means the fan(s) wants them in some kind of relationship that is romantic or sexual in nature.

Trope - A commonly used plot template such as "enemies to lovers", "sick fic" (one of the characters is sick and the others have to nurse them back to health), or "De-aging". Can be general or fandom specific.
